My raw experience of using a 5120x1440 super ultrawide monitor is now live for channel members. 😄

I kept it simple and shared the experience in three parts: the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s actually like to use a massive 32:9 monitor every day, you can watch it here:

🎬 Called It! iPhone 17 Pro ProRes RAW Update – External SSD Required (Just Like I Predicted!)

Remember that video I dropped about the iPhone 17 Pro and ProRes RAW? ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vu9eC... ) Well, the iPhone 17 Pro and Max is officially out, and guess what? My predictions were 100% spot on! 🎯

Apple's gone full "external storage required" for ProRes RAW recording on the iPhone 17 Pro, and we're not talking about just any external drive here. You need a high-speed external SSD with sustained write speeds of at least 220 MB/s for 4K60 ProRes and up to 440 MB/s for 4K120 ProRes. Your external storage device must write at speeds of at least 220 MB per second for 4K60 ProRes and at least 440MB per second for 4K120 ProRes Missing iPhone 17Pro Pro Res RAW document… - Apple Community – so much for just plugging in any old USB drive, right?
This totally confirms what I said in my original video: while the iPhone is getting some serious Hollywood-grade pro-level video capabilities, it comes with real-world limitations that make it more of a specialized tool than an everyday feature.

🔥 My Recommended SSD Setup for iPhone 17 Pro ProRes RAW

For those brave souls ready to dive into the glorious, flexible, and absolutely massive world of ProRes RAW on your iPhone 17 Pro, here's what I'm personally going with:
2TB internal NVMe SSD (like the Kingston KC3000) + USB-C SSD enclosure = the perfect combo for high bitrates and plenty of storage for your cinematic masterpieces.

⚡️ CRITICAL Power Warning – Don't Skip This!

Here's the game-changer most people don't know about: the iPhone's USB-C port only supplies around 4.5 watts of power. This is absolutely crucial because some newer, high-performance NVMe SSDs (especially when they're working overtime writing those massive ProRes RAW files) can demand more power than your iPhone can actually deliver.

What happens if your SSD is power-hungry? Recording errors, dropped frames, or complete recording failures right in the middle of your perfect shot. Always check the power consumption specs before buying any SSD for iPhone ProRes RAW recording!

🎥 Real-World ProRes RAW Storage Reality Check

Just to put this in perspective – It can only be recorded to an external drive with either Final Cut Camera or Blackmagic Camera apps iPhone 17 Pro & Pro Max Review for Photographers: A Welcome Focus on Hardware | PetaPixel, which means you can't even use the native iPhone camera app for this. You'll need specialized apps, external storage, and careful power management. It's powerful, but it's definitely pro gear with pro requirements.

📱 Who Should Actually Use iPhone 17 Pro ProRes RAW?

This feature is perfect for:

Mobile filmmakers who need maximum flexibility in post
Content creators shooting multiple iPhone setups (thanks to the new genlock feature!)
Anyone who wants cinema-grade color grading control on the go

But let's be real – for 99% of iPhone users, regular ProRes or even standard 4K recording will be more than enough.

💭 Are You Going ProRes RAW?

Planning to use ProRes RAW on your iPhone 17 Pro? What's your external SSD setup going to be? Drop your thoughts in the comments – I'd love to hear what storage solutions you're considering!

🚀 Exploring Kotlin + Spring Boot for Server-Side Web Development! 🚀

As a backend developer, I've always been passionate about exploring new technologies and ways to improve efficiency. Recently, I’ve been diving into using Kotlin with Spring Boot, and the combination has been a game changer for server-side web application development. 💻✨

Here are a few things that stand out:

1️⃣ Concise Code: Kotlin's syntax is more expressive and less verbose compared to Java, which means less boilerplate and cleaner, more readable code. This has boosted my productivity, especially when building APIs with Spring Boot.

2️⃣ Interoperability with Java: One of the best things about Kotlin is its 100% interoperability with Java. This allows seamless integration with existing Java libraries and frameworks, making the transition smooth for anyone coming from a Java background.

3️⃣ Null Safety: Kotlin’s built-in null safety features help avoid NullPointerExceptions—an all-too-common issue in Java apps—leading to more reliable and secure code.

4️⃣ Coroutines for Asynchronous Programming: Using Kotlin coroutines with Spring Boot has allowed me to handle asynchronous operations more elegantly and efficiently, improving performance without complicating the codebase.

5️⃣ Active Spring Boot Support: Spring Boot has great support for Kotlin, and the Spring community continues to optimize this powerful duo, making it easier to build scalable, modern web applications.

If you're a Java developer looking to enhance your server-side development or just curious about Kotlin, I highly recommend giving this combo a try. The synergy between Kotlin and Spring Boot is real! 💡⚡

Anyone else working with Kotlin + Spring Boot? I’d love to hear your thoughts or experiences! Let’s connect and discuss. 🤝
