What a week!

Over the past 7 days - it's been a wild show of a mix of heritage & mainline action - and I felt i should make an update post before things got out of hand!

To begin, 7 days ago today, the small Ribble Steam Railway hosted their Autumn Steam Gala, featuring 4 locomotives ( Furness 20, 48 King, Walkden & Hornet ), each of which ran 2 full laps of the line, with the exception of Hornet & King - who each did 1.5 - as a double headed consist took place. Regardless of the railways short length, the gala itself was amazing - a great choice of locos and lots of power along the line! Was great to see Furness 20 & 48 King following their respective visits to my more familiar line (ELR), where Furness 20 visited in 2025 for their ASG, and 48 King visiting for SEG 2026. Conclusively - a great gala!

Following that on the Sunday, which was much calmer, but the amazing addition of WCR 57 313 & 57 601 with some incredible tones through Lostock on a Northern Belle ECS movement from Castleton! Great video - however 57 313 did knock my phone over!

Moving to Monday - where LMS Stanier 4-6-0 Patriot Class 46115 "Scots Guardsman" returned to Carnforth after a visit to the SVR in replacement of Std4 Tank 80097. With this being an after school event - following a major traffic incident - it was a fair to say close call - arriving at the station only 21 seconds before 46115 passed! Nevertheless - amazing!

Skipping forward to Wednesday, where the LMS Stanier 8F 48151 returned to the mainline on private charter for the owner's birthday! An amazing departure and over the moon to see this mainline 8F back out and working! Hope to catch it more on tours in the future once all is working well with it!

Now cutting to today, where 86 259 blasted through Leyland with some great tones - followed by some AMAZING power from 34067 "Tangmere" near arounds Bamber Bridge with a great echo of a whistle - followed closely by 43 059 & 43 050 back at Leyland.

Overall - it's been a great week - and there's still more to come - however, as GCSE mocks, exams etc do slowly begin to creep into life, the upload rate will begin to slowly diminish, however not completely stop with all hope. I do expect the ELR's ASG 2026 to be my final full event weekend prior to GCSE's - however there will still be more! As per usual - thank you all for the support on recent videos - never goes unnoticed!

Thank you & have an amazing day :)

WOW! What a week

I’ve had to fit so much into this post, since just so much has happened in the last week it’s amazing, so I’ll break it down for those who haven’t seen, and give another general update on the channel, so, please feel free to skip to the relevant parts of this post!:

ROG Action on the WCML:

On Monday, Rail Operations Group operated 5Q36 from Kilmarnock to Allerton depot with ROG 37 884, dragging a Northern EMU class 769 unit. I saw this drag at Leyland (WCML), and fair to say it didn’t dissapoint, an absolute sprint from school to my local station, connecting to the WCML got me just in time for the 37, and just in time to test my new / old Canon camera & tripod which I recently rediscovered, and intend on using in future videos! With the 37 on P4 ( FL ), and receiving a red up until the last second of the bend meant this tractor could belt it right to full thrash through the station once it cleared to a green! A magical performance for an incredible loco!

LSL Double Headed Tractors:

Following that, on Wednesday, the LSL operated a Railtour with 37 402 & 37 401 double heading, which I caught twice. First, at Church & Oswaldtwistle, where 3 tones & full thrash was easily enough to satisfy me! Following, a quick trip to Leyland (again) to catch the 37’s at high power with more tones! Amazing to see the large logo 37 out!

ELR Autumn Diesel Gala:

For the last 3 days, the ELR have been operating heritage diesels up and down the entire line at a great capacity - and I’ve been there for as much as I could be! Starting the gala off for me was amazing, with a tone-off between Class 42 Warship 832 “Onslaught” & Class 56 Grid 56006 passing eachother, as the 42 heads to Baron St, and the 56 heads into Bury - a really nice sight! Following that the reemergence of the Class 25 Rat 25279 for its first channel appearance since the SDG 2026 -and with a beautiful rake of goods wagons! Shortly behind - a freshly repainted Class 40 Whistler 40 106 rolls in - and I must say the paint job on the 40 looks absolutely top notch and puts many other locos in shame. Following, the Class 56 restarted up with some nice clag & departed twice ( 2 different angles ) into the night, putting an easy end to the end of the first great day of this gala!
Starting early on the Saturday, a prompt movement to Summerseat for 56006, which passed in a blinking loud manor! Moving just further down from the platform to catch the Bury rat in action (25279) at some good pace with the more well known rat of the ELR ( D5054 ) trailing behind… A quick stopover for a nice departure of the 56 again, before heading to Irwell Vale for my first proper good luck at the 40. Wow. Everything seems better on it, some great power, tones & paint! Remaining at Summerseat area for some more loco’s that did not dissapoint were to follow ( 58 - 40 - 24 - 42 - 56 - 24 ), before a movement for potentially the best rounded part of the day. A quick trip over to Burrs up the embankment to catch 40106 & 20069.. Apologies, 40106 & 25279? As 20069 failed, 25279 replaced its duty double heading with the 40. Now that… that was a great sight to see! Following closely from the other direction was a brilliant first look at BR Class 50 Hoover 50 015 “Valiant”. A quick round trip from 832 on the goods with a great spur up to lead up to one of the best shots of the day! Next up, was 58023 & 56006 double heading, which in hindsight should’ve screamed ‘clag’, and it did. A great cloud of smoke from these 2 erupting out of Burrs was capital a, amazing! In a frantic rush of movements ( 40/25 - Burrs , 58/55 - Rammy, 50 - Rammy, 50 - Irwell ) we finally arrived onto Summerseat for the last time of the day, catching a great departure from Valiant before seeing the best performance I ever have from a 40! What I’d describe as “top notch” power with some great tones! And to top of it off, with a goods set… close behind to wrap up the days Summerseat shots was 58023 & 56006 thrashing back through, before a trip to Bury to watch the formation and departure of the beer-ex service with 40106 & 50015 - mega! With that wrapping up day 2, alongside a few popular faces showing at the line, one more day of diesel traction was ahead.
To start the final day at ELR off, a trip to the Burrs country park for a whistling Class 40 & Claggy class 58! Followed by a quick stop down at Great Eaves Road for 56006 ( which remained with decent power output! ) & 25 279, toning with a broken horn through the crossing! ) Moving to Summerseat to get my favourite shot of the day, 40 106 with “the royal Scot” headboard at some power! Following that came some more great footage from the 25, 58, 56 & 40, followed by 80097. Wait, 80097? Yes, a steam locomotive at a diesel gala… BR Std4 Tank 2-6-4 80097 was out on the dining service with great whistles from both shots, definitely odd to see at a diesel gala but nevertheless a great switch up in prep for Autumn steam gala! Then a great run from 56006 & 58023 DH at Irwell and a quick chase for the 56 south at Rawtenstall, Summerseat & Bury before catching 40 106 for the last time out of Bury’, to wrap it all up? 58023 & 56006 back out at the transport museum. A genuinely great gala that was a pleasure to go, sure, it would’ve been nice is 20 069 & 37 109 made the cut, but given ELR’s circumstances, it was pretty much brilliant!

In conclusion, it’s been a pretty great week, and I’ve still got more planned, don’t worry! Thank you so much for all the support recently it means a ton. With that, I’ll try to keep the special mentions & links as short as possible, and as always:

Have a great day!

A poor day for a great Stanier.

(Background):

It was recently confirmed by Riley's that LMS No. 45212's 10 year overhaul was being withdrawn and not completed, after discussion, it was decided that the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway (KWVR) would receive the locomotive back, and up to their discretion of what happens to it's future, as plans currently are, this locomotive will never return to the mainline. Yesterday, Thursday 3rd September 2026, this original ECS was delayed/cancelled due to reasons on the WCR's side. However, today, Friday 4th September 2026, WCR No. 47 812 & 57 314 "Conwy Castle" Took this locomotive from the ELR to the KWVR.

As said above, after a long chase day, this incredible locomotive has been moved from the East Lancashire Railway to the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, on its potentially final ever Mainline movement. Starting at Lostock to see 47 812 lead the diesel pair to ELR was amazing, with some great tones, and onwards to the ELR, where the odd pair made an appearance at my local heritage railway. Upon it's departure, the ECS was chased on it's way to the Worth Valley, at:
- Mill's Hill
- Horwich Parkway
- Bamber Bridge
Before finally catching my favorite shot of the day, where the KWVR did the amazing consist of allowing the Black 5 to 'technically' lead the service, with RES 47 715 on the rear of it, pushing and thrashing hard behind to push it up the steep gradient out of the station.
My best wishes to all of those on the 45212 project, and with wherever it goes. Been an amazing day, and all videos are now up! I will leave links below for those interested!

Sad to see 45212 leave, but glad to see her back at where I first saw her many years ago now.

Good luck 45212.

Thank you!

1K - wow 😮

Only just dawned on me checking YT that I’ve hit 1,000 subscribers, so I do apologise for this being late 😂. As I normally do say, the number next to the name doesn’t mean much to me, I do this for fun & out of enjoyment for the hobby, not for numbers, but 1k felt significant enough to feel acomplished. Thank you SO much to everyone who has ever watched, subscribed or commented, the support means so much to me! Specifically thank you to all the friends I’ve made & people I’ve met on this wacky ride to 1k, it’s been incredible!

To somewhat celebrate, I’ve attached a few unseen images, that were taken prior to the channels release, maybe some more will slide in towards the near future 👀, starting with the new build N° 2007 “Prince Of Wales” at Darlington Works back in 2024, followed by a DH 56 & 37 ( 56006/37109 ) back when the tractor was in BR Blue, following into the 56XX N° 5643, an amazing tank currently at Ribble Steam under overhaul, before moving onto more known videos, with 60163, 66 055, Prince William, 37 250, 34092 & a post-repaint 37109. Also tagged along to the end is debatably the best A4, the Union Of South Africa prior to its exit of service, shown returning on the dining service from Heywood.

On a different note, following my last post, a quick trip to Wensleydale Railway for their mini industrial gala, where 37 250 really put on a good show! Followed by today, where BR Class 37 ‘Tractor’ N° 37 109 was shedualed to return to traffic. However, unfortunately, the diesel suffered an issue & was forced to put its brakes on at Ramsbottom, loop around the stock & head back to Bury, where the all too well known D5053/5054 replaced it. Regardless, a great day out with 34092, D5053 & 80097, with the surprise guest of 2x Class 43 HST powercars at the end!

Once again, forever grateful for all the support, it’s been a blast, and more content to still come your way! Thanks to all the people I’ve met & talked with.

Thank you 🥹

Some mainline mayhem over the last couple weeks!

Been quite busy back & forth across the country for trips & holidays, however it’s been absolutely amazing over these last couple of weeks!

Following my previous post I headed back to the ELR for D8069’s other running day, where 34092 was on the dining service with D5053 taking the steam diagram due to the heat, nevertheless amazing to see Wells again, shortly after a day trip to Chester to catch ROG 37 800 in proper action up the Chester wall on an ECS Drag! Another short trip over to Ribble Steam Railway for Railbus Wednesday before preparation for the main event!
On August 22nd was a mega filled day of heritage diesels, starting with 37 407 & 37 423 at Ashley on an EPR tour, followed by 37 669 & 47 813, 50 050, 37 421, 37 219, 40 013 & some special mentions to more modern trains with the LUMO 222’s & Network Rail 153.

Been absolutely incredible & as we head into autumn I do intend on going to more heritage events again as they start up, so all the more to look forward too! Should be another video uploaded today with WCR ECS movement up north, followed by some days at the ELR / Wensleydale.

Thank you all for your continued support on the channel, majorly grateful for all of you 🥹

Have a great day!

Decided to try something new:

Tomorrow at 18:00 GMT a long-form video releases, this will form to be a testbed of whether I do this for other major events & galas, so I’d love to hear any sort of feedback any of you have on it. Of course, no pressure to watch it, I don’t care about views or likes.

Have a great day everyone! 😃

Hi all!

Yet another amazing day out at the East Lancashire Railway, this time for their mini event, 'Lancashire & Yorkshire (L&Y) Running Day' with participating Locomotives L&Y Class 23 (11456) & L&Y A Class (52322) Double Heading Services between Rawtenstall & Heywood. Additionally, L&Y Pug (11243) was operating driver experiances at the Bury Bolton St. Station.

In addition to a great steam lineup, was a mini event on its own with the diesel(s), British Railways Bo-Bo Class 20 'Chopper' Number 20 069 / D8069, which was running its first run on the ELR in a long time, so a welcomed loco back to service! Additionally, BR Bo-Bo Class 24 'Rat' D5053 was called out to overtake 11456 & 52322 for the later services.

It has been an absolutely amazing day, and a great thanks out to ‪@Tristan_303‬ & ‪@thatrainperson‬ for their help & time today, appreciated greatly. To close this up, there's still more to come over the course of summer, and an overall great mini-event from the ELR.

Have a great day!

Hi all, again!

This is a rather short post, as I forgot to include this in the last one, as I forgot to check studio 🤣. Just a couple hours prior now, I hit the milestone on 900 subscribers, which is amazing, thank you ❤️.
As I’ve said before, I do this channel for the passion within the hobby, not for views & subs, but seeing people interact with the videos as of recently has been heartwarming. More content to follow soon!

Thanks all, I owe you all one 🥹✊

Hi all - it’s been a while!

There’s been a ton of stuff happening & special events so I’ve decided to shift them all into one post!

Primarily, a good friend of mine ‪@thatrainperson‬ ‘s birthday is today, so I would like to send over some appreciation & gratitude his way. From experience an amazing person & glad to have him about 😄. He recently uploaded a video, which is tagged below, which I highly recommend checking out, if I wasn’t at the GWSR DG, I would’ve been there too, it’s an incredible video that deserves more recognition. If you get the chance, please show him the support he deserves 😃. Been great to talk & get to know you over a short while. I should mention this is the main reason I created this post, the GWSR & L&HSR are just quick addons, so I guess it’s fair to say this is a dedicated post. Happy birthday to you , hope all the best for you & keep up with all the amazing stuff you do 🥹🤞

Secondly, I was at the GWSR Diesel Gala ( incase that wasn’t clear 🤣 ), where both growler group diesels ( 37215 & D6948 ) were on top notch performance with the thrash & clag! Both BR Class 20 choppers were out double heading which was great to see (20107 & 20228) with some lovely power. The 4 British Suzlers, BR Class 24, 25, 26 & 27 had great performances & with that amazing quadruple header at T’ end. To link it all back, the remaining diesels, BR Class 47 (x2), 45 ‘Peak, 35 ‘Hymek’ & 121 ‘Bubblecar’ were great to see out with some lovely tones. GWSR has always been a great railway & it’s been great to be down there again for another 10/10 gala!

Finally, another short trip today to the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Steam Railway for their BR Ivatt N° 44641, which had some great whistles & power throughout the day!

Overall it’s been great, some more events planned & can’t wait to get some more out for you. To close back up, thanks everyone for everything so far, it’ll only get better. And happy birthday again to ‪@thatrainperson‬ , amazing guy , all the best to you! 😃👍.

What a half-week!

Across the last 3 days (Tues 14th July -> Thurs 16th July), I’ve been on a mini tour of the UK chasing as many tours & movements as possible, and boy was it great!

Day one mainly consisted of chasing the Chairman’s train, originally hauled by 37 667 “Flopsie” & 37 521 in LSL Black to Carlisle, before detaching and allowing Class 89 ‘Badger’ 89001 to join on! Additionally, other special stock was around, such as 37 219, 37 422 & Banana HST.

Day two was the moral peak, chasing BR Class 37 Tractor cobo N° 37 706 on the Scarborough Spa Express, replacing 34067 “Tangmere”, right from the start of its ECS, it proved to be great with intense clag, thrash and tones. A total of 8 seperate sighting across all tours & ECS were seen with this beast! Additionally, a short trip to NYMR at Goathland for yet another 37 ( 37 264 ) & their USA “Omaha”, which has an absolutely cracking bark. Included that day was also an AMAZING convoy consisting of 20 007, 21 446, 47 077 “Northern Star” & 20 205 from the NYMR -> Leeds. What a day!

Finally, today, originally the plan was to stay in London all day & chasing 71000 “Duke Of Gloucester” on 2 seperate tours, + a Class 67 tour. However, due to the national rail steam ban, 47 810 & 47 830 were set to replace 71000. With that being said, it was filmed twice, then we headed back north just in time for one final train, an ECS move from Crewe up the WCML and up towards the Jacobite with none other than , again, 37 706, 44871 & 37 685.

Overall, it’s been amazing, a ridiculous amount of 37’s and others, it’s just been fantastic. As for the future - there are tons of more tours & railways still to visit of the summer, so much more content to come!

Thank you all for your continued support, & hope the videos out as of now are to a high standard!

Thanks 😃
