Since getting back from Scotland, things definitely haven’t slowed down! 😅

We’ve been busy getting our 4-week Scotland adventure edited and finally out on YouTube — that one was an absolute monster to put together, but we’re so happy it’s live! 🎬🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

And now… Camper Calling is officially happening! 🎪🙌

Our tickets have arrived, so a massive thank you to the Camping and Caravanning Club for inviting us along! We only found out last week, which means our usual “plan everything miles in advance” approach has completely gone out the window. 😂

So now it’s operation festival prep: portable power station, festival clobber, sun cream, caravan packed… and getting ourselves ready for a few nights of absolute craziness! ☀️🎶🍻

And Camper Calling is only the start. We’ve still got loads coming up over the next few weeks, including Sandringham Estate, the Cotswolds, LEGOLAND and Jimmy’s Farm — plus plenty more camping adventures in between.

It feels like summer is disappearing ridiculously quickly… so we’re going to squeeze every last adventure out of it! 🚐❤️

Well… it’s been a busy few days since we left Scotland! 😂

The last update ended with us crossing the border and heading down to Blackpool for a bit of sunshine… and since then, quite a lot has happened!

First up… we came home early because I managed to pick up a virus. 🤦‍♂️ I’m on the mend now thankfully, but coming home after weeks away meant we were greeted by approximately 15 LOADS OF WASHING.

Perfect timing then for the washing machine to break. 😂

So I rolled up my sleeves, cleaned out the coin catcher/filter thingy — which, judging by what came out of it, had probably never been cleaned in its life — and… BOSH. Fixed. 🔧😂

Since getting home we’ve also been catching up with work, editing videos like crazy people and getting ourselves back onto our healthier diets. Camping makes it VERY easy to fall off the wagon… especially when bacon butties, pub food and snacks are basically part of the experience. 😂

But we’ve also had some really exciting news…

We’ve been offered a collaboration! 🎉

At the end of August we’ll be heading to a family festival to capture everything — the activities, entertainment, camping life and probably the usual Stearman Family chaos along the way.

There’s loads to organise beforehand, but the boys are going to absolutely love it.

Now we just need the weather to behave…

And by behave, I basically mean: PLEASE DO NOT RAIN LIKE BONNY SCOTLAND DID. 😂🌧️

We’ve also somehow managed to squeeze in a solar eclipse AND the Perseid meteor shower this week!

The eclipse was brilliant fun and I caught loads of it for the channel.

The meteor shower footage on the other hand…

Yeah…

It’s shite. 😂

I’m still going to post some of it though because honestly, watching me standing outside in the dark convincing myself my iPhone was going to capture shooting stars is probably funnier than the actual meteors.

I DID see a few with my own eyes though… so I’m counting that as a win. 🌠

We also learned two very important scientific facts this week:

1. The boys are considerably less interested in a solar eclipse when their friends are outside playing football.
2. My incredible Eclipse Viewer V2 DELUXE — now suitable for THREE children worked perfectly well… but apparently I could have just grabbed a kitchen strainer and got the same — possibly better — result. 🤦‍♂️😂

You live and learn.

And now, just as I’m starting to feel human again… Sammy has caught a sickness bug.

So she’s currently quarantined in our bedroom while I’ve got the boys for the day… during yet another UK heatwave.

Oh… and there’s a hosepipe ban.

Excellent. 😂☀️

What do you do to keep your kids cool and entertained during a heatwave when you can’t just chuck the hosepipe on?!

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 DAY 24 — GOODBYE SCOTLAND! 👋

And just like that… our Scotland adventure is over! 😭

We’ve left Loch Lomond behind and have just crossed the border back into England.

Scotland, we’ve had an absolute blast! ❤️ The mountains, lochs, waterfalls, beaches, hikes and some genuinely incredible places — it’s been an adventure we won’t forget.

The only thing you could’ve done better was the WEATHER! 😂🌧️ Give Scotland a bit more sunshine and honestly… it would be VERY hard to beat.

Never thought I’d hear myself say this, but…

We’re heading to BLACKPOOL for some sunshine! 😂☀️🎢

Four nights, hopefully 22 degrees, plenty for the boys to do and a complete change of scenery after 24 days of mountains and lochs!

Next stop… Blackpool! 🎢☀️

🌧️ DAY 23 — AND DAY 14 OF RAIN!! 🌧️

We love Scotland… but COME ON! 😂 We desperately need some sunshine, so we’ve decided to change our plans based on the forecast.

Tomorrow we’re heading to BLACKPOOL for 4 nights! ☀️🎢

Blackpool was actually our original plan, but we changed it because we wanted to head towards the Three Peaks and experience a bit more of the mountains.

Turns out… we’re mountained out. 😂⛰️

The boys especially have had enough, and if I’m being fair, so have we! The same goes for lochs. They’re absolutely beautiful, but after seeing what feels like 3 lochs a day for the last 23 days, I think we’re ready for a completely different change of scenery. 😂

So… we’ve booked ourselves onto a Haven park in Blackpool.

It’s not exactly my scene 😂 but the boys LOVE all the entertainment, activities and general chaos that comes with it. More importantly, the forecast is showing around 22°C while we’re there!! ☀️

After 14 days of rain, I might actually get the chance to top up the tan! 😂

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 LOCH LOMOND

Loch Lomond has been lovely. While we’ve been here, we’ve taken a leisure cruise on the loch and visited The Devil’s Pulpit.

And WOW.

I think Devil’s Pulpit might genuinely be the most beautiful place we’ve seen in Scotland so far… and that is saying something because we’ve seen some incredible places over the last few weeks.

Getting down there — and especially getting back up — was hard work, but it was completely worth it. Absolutely stunning.

10/10 from me. 👌

Unfortunately, I’m finishing our time here feeling pretty rough. 🤒 I’ve got a fever, so I’ve admitted defeat for a few hours and climbed into bed.

I’ve dosed myself up with paracetamol and ibuprofen and I’m soldiering on. 😂 Hopefully a decent sleep sorts me out because tomorrow we’ve got the drive down to Blackpool.

Scotland… you’ve been incredible.

But PLEASE… GIVE US SOME SUNSHINE!! ☀️😂

Day 20 of our 6-week Scotland adventure! 🇬🇧🏕️

Today we said goodbye to the Isle of Skye and made our way down to Fort William. The original plan was to stop at a castle on the way, but the weather had other ideas! 😅 We were all feeling a bit tired after a few busy days, so we drove straight through and arrived at Glen Nevis Campsite earlier than expected.

What a campsite! It’s got everything you could want – a bar, restaurant, takeaway, shop and really good facilities. We’re only here for two nights, but it’s been lovely having everything on our doorstep.

Last night we headed into Fort William and watched the new Spider-Man: Brand New Day at the Highland Cinema. We all absolutely loved it and would definitely recommend it if you’re in the area.

The weather, however… wow. 🌧️ It’s been relentless for the last five days and today was no different. We started with a lazy breakfast in the awning before heading to the Nevis Range gondola. We were so excited… but it turned out to be one of the biggest let-downs of the trip. Around 100 feet of visibility, rain blowing sideways and not much to see! 😅 We basically spent £80 to ride the gondola and sit in the café at the top. We still managed to have some fun though… we ended up playing a ridiculous game flicking crisp packets across a table. I’ve turned it into a funny Short, so keep an eye out for that! 😂

Afterwards we took the boys to an indoor play centre. They had a brilliant time, but it felt a little too much like something we’d do back home. So we wrapped up warm, pulled on the waterproofs and headed out to Steall Falls instead…

Wow. 🤯

Without a doubt one of the highlights of the whole trip. The walk through Glen Nevis is stunning and Steall Falls absolutely blew us away. If you’re ever anywhere near Fort William, put it on your list.

Right now I’m sat in the awning with an IPA, Sammy’s beside me, and we’re winding down before heading to bed. Tomorrow we leave Fort William behind and make our way to Loch Lomond for the next stop on our adventure.

It’s hard to believe we’re already on Day 20. This Scotland trip is starting to draw to a close, but what an adventure it’s been. The weather hasn’t always played ball, but the memories we’ve made as a family have been worth every single rainy day. ❤️

Day 18 – A Slower Day in Skye 🌧️

Not every day on the road is packed with adventures, and today was one of those days. We both had to work, catch up on laundry, dishes, and give the caravan a good clean, so we spent the entire day on the campsite.

To be fair, it turned out to be the perfect day for it because the rain was absolutely relentless! We also had some very heavy rain overnight, which gave my duct tape roof repairs a proper test. Unfortunately, we still ended up with a leak directly above our heads in bed… which was a lovely surprise at 2am! 😂

Today we’re heading towards Glen Nevis. The forecast says rain all day again, but if there’s one thing I’ve learnt in Scotland, it’s that the weather forecast isn’t always right. We’ll see what happens!

We haven’t planned the route yet, so I’m sure there’ll be a few unexpected stops and hidden gems along the way. The good news is I’ve got the next three days off work, so fingers crossed the weather gives us a break.

Onwards and upwards! 🚐🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Day 17 – Our First Full Day on the Isle of Skye 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

After arriving on the Isle of Skye on Day 16 following a very long drive, it was amazing to finally have electricity and WiFi again! 😂 The boys wasted no time making new friends on the campsite, and before long they were playing football well into the evening.

We woke up to classic Scottish weather… cold, wet and windy! 🌧️ So we took it easy, played a few games of chess and waited to see what Mother Nature had planned. Thankfully, by around midday the skies started to brighten, so we headed off in search of fossils at Corran Beach.

On the way, we spotted a little stone building with a sign saying Museum. Curiosity got the better of us, and we’re so glad it did! It turned out to be a fantastic little fossil and dinosaur museum. The owner spent ages chatting to the boys, patiently answering their many questions about the exhibits. 🤣 At just £10 for the whole family, it’s an absolute bargain and well worth a stop if you’re exploring Skye.

Corran Beach itself was stunning. The dark volcanic sand makes it one of the most unique beaches we’ve visited, and it’s famous for fossil hunting. We didn’t find any real fossils… although Frankie did discover the incredibly rare Rockosaurus skyeillis egg fossil! 🦖😂 Thanks to ChatGPT playing along with the adventure, Frankie now has a full dinosaur fact sheet and even a picture of what his dinosaur supposedly looked like. His imagination has been running wild ever since, and honestly, it’s a brilliant example of how AI can make family adventures even more magical.

Next up was the climb to the Old Man of Storr. I’m not going to lie… it was tough! I ended up carrying our five-year-old for a good chunk of the climb, but every step was worth it. The walk took us around 2 hours from start to finish, it’s completely free, and the views over Skye are absolutely breathtaking.

Back at the campsite, the boys were straight back out playing football with their new friends while I fired up the Cadac Safari Chef 30 for a couple of sirloin steaks. The best part? The sun finally came out and we ended the day in a very pleasant 17°C. Scottish weather really does change in the blink of an eye!

🚐 Road Trip Update | From Achmelvich to Skye! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

It’s been a few days since my last update, mainly because we’ve been living the dream… with no power and very little Wi-Fi! 😂

We spent a couple of nights at the beautiful Achmelvich Bay, and what an incredible place it is. Crystal-clear water, white sandy beaches and views that honestly don’t feel like the UK. The boys absolutely loved spending hours on the beach while we soaked up the sunshine.

We also made the trip to Eas a’ Chual Aluinn, Britain’s highest waterfall. The walk and climb were definitely worth it, and seeing it in person was one of those moments that reminds you why we’re doing this trip.

Today was a travel day as we made our way over to the Isle of Skye. It ended up taking around 7 hours with plenty of stops for food, fuel and the all-important toilet breaks! One of those stops was Kintail Lodge, where we enjoyed a really tasty meal before getting back on the road.

We’ve now arrived at our campsite on the shores of Loch Greshornish. The caravan is all set up, the kettle has been on, and we’re spending the evening relaxing while taking in the incredible views across the loch.

One of my favourite things about this trip is waking up each morning not knowing exactly what adventure the day will bring.

Yesterday was Sammy’s birthday, and what a day it turned out to be! 🥳

We started with homemade flatbreads on the beach (if you’ve seen the Shorts, you’ll know how good they were 😋) before heading off to explore the incredible Smoo Cave.

If you’re planning the NC500, Smoo Cave is an absolute must. Entry is completely free, although you can also take the guided cave tour for £15 per adult and £5 for under-16s. One tip… take cash! We forgot, and they don’t accept card payments for the tour. 🤦‍♂️ Even without it, the cave is an amazing place to visit and the boys absolutely loved exploring it.

After that we treated ourselves to Cocoa Mountain for one of their famous hot chocolates… and I can confirm the hype is real. They were incredible! 🍫☕

Back at the campsite, we finished the day the best way possible: a drink in the pub, homemade chicken wings for dinner, and of course, birthday cake for dessert. 🎂

Durness has honestly been one of our favourite stops on this trip. The scenery is breathtaking, the beaches are stunning… even if the wind has been trying its best to blow us into the sea! 🌬️😂

Today it’s time to pack away our game-changing awning (full review coming soon 👀) and head south to Achmelvich Bay for a couple of nights. Fingers crossed the sunshine sticks around… and the midgies decide to take a holiday too! 🤞

Last full day in Durness today, and what a way to spend it! 🌊☀️

We kicked the day off celebrating Sammy’s birthday with presents in bed before heading down to Sango Sands Beach. Lunch was homemade flatbreads cooked on the Cadac Safari Chef 30, with one of the best views we’ve had all trip.

It’s been one of those days where everything just comes together. The weather has been beautiful, the kids have loved every minute, and although it’s blowing around 25 mph back at the caravan (our awning is definitely earning its keep! 😂), down on the beach it’s been absolutely perfect.

We’re genuinely loving this Scotland adventure. Every day has brought something new, and we’re making memories we’ll never forget. ❤️
