A tablet fragment unearthed at Hattusa, the ancient Hittite capital in Türkiye, has been identified as part of a copy of the Kadesh Peace Treaty.

Dating to the 13th century BC, the treaty is one of the earliest known written peace agreements marking the end of the conflict between the Hittite and Egyptian kingdoms.

Italy is preparing new restrictions in schools, including a legal cap on the number of foreign students and a ban on burqas and hijabs, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said.

Speaking at a youth festival organised by her Brothers of Italy party, Meloni said Italian children should not feel like a minority in their classrooms. The proposed measure is expected to go before the Italian cabinet soon.

Türkiye's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has said Saudi Arabia may have certain military needs stemming from the recent Houthi attacks, and that Türkiye would examine these needs under the Mecca defence pact, and that it was unacceptable for Riyadh to be drawn into the war between the United States and Iran.

Fidan said Saudi Arabia's territorial integrity and sovereignty are under threat amid the ongoing assault by the Houthis, and he stressed that Türkiye stood in solidarity with Riyadh.

Speaking to NTV on Saturday, he said the situation around the Bab al Mandab Strait was becoming increasingly complex, with its economic repercussions now exceeding tolerable levels.

Fidan also said Israel poses a danger not only to the Middle East but to the world.

He said Türkiye was observing "very serious attacks" on Saudi Arabia's territorial integrity and sovereignty amid the ongoing assault by the Houthis.

Türkiye condemned the attacks, particularly those targeting oil infrastructure and the holy city of Mecca, Fidan said, adding that Türkiye was monitoring the situation closely within the framework of the Mecca pact.

He said several initiatives were underway to resolve the crisis but that they needed to produce concrete outcomes from the relevant parties.

Separately, Fidan said it was unacceptable for Saudi Arabia to be drawn into the war between the United States and Iran, stressing that Riyadh had no desire to join the conflict.

Google’s Gemini model accessed the internet and hacked three companies during a test of its cybersecurity capabilities, in the first known example of one of the company’s AI systems autonomously carrying out such an act.

The incidents occurred in May during an assessment conducted by independent cybersecurity firm Irregular.

According to Google, Gemini found publicly available information online and guessed login credentials to access three websites it believed were within the scope of the test. In all three cases, the model stopped the hacking.

The incidents were not publicly disclosed at the time. The Wall Street Journal reported that Google did not believe they warranted public disclosure because no harm was caused.

Similar incidents linked to Irregular have also been disclosed by Meta, Anthropic and OpenAI. A separate incident involving China’s Moonshot AI was reported during a cybersecurity evaluation conducted by Frontier Security.

The incidents have raised concerns over how autonomous AI agents should be contained when given access to the internet and computer systems.

At least 16 people, including 11 civilians and five police officers, were killed and more than 50 wounded in a suspected suicide bombing targeting a police compound in Kohat, northwestern Pakistan, during Friday prayers.

An explosives-laden vehicle rammed into the Old Police Lines gate, creating a crater near the mosque. Kohat District Hospital officials confirmed that 15 bodies were brought to the facility, while police said a suspected attacker was also killed.

The EU is moving to tighten children’s access to social media.

Children under 13 would be restricted from accessing social media, while those aged 13 and 14 could only use “mini accounts” set up through a parent or guardian. Users would generally need to be 15 or older to open their own account.

The move comes amid growing concerns over children’s online safety and the impact of platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and ChatGPT. Similar restrictions are being pursued in Australia, the UK, China, India, Türkiye, and several other European countries.
