Mainframe COBOL translated to Rust, and the comparison that proves it.
Every claim here names its referee. "Byte-for-byte" means nothing on its own --
against what? GnuCOBOL? IBM's compiler? The government's own compiled binaries?
Those three do not always agree, and which one you measured against IS the claim.
So the runs are on screen, including the red lines. When something failed, the
autopsy is the video: two industry compilers crashing on inputs our Rust
survives, a broken fixture we published ourselves, and a real bug in our own
engine, found and fixed on camera.
A scoreboard with no failures on it has usually had the failures removed rather
than fixed. That goes for us too.
I run Torsova, which does this commercially. Everything shown is real work on
public code -- CMS Medicare pricers, AWS CardDemo -- and the evidence logs are
downloadable.
If you run COBOL nobody dares touch: send one program. The parallel run does the
arguing.
