Welcome to Katz Coins. I’m Morty Katz. I ran a small-town coin shop for about 40 years and had just about every kind of collection come across my counter, from coffee cans full of old pennies to collections people had been saving their whole lives. I started this channel to pass along some of what I learned over the years: how to spot better coins, what dealers actually look for, what can hurt a coin’s value, and how to keep from getting taken when you buy or sell. Nothing fancy here, just the same kind of coin talk I used to have with folks who came into the shop.
